Unleash Your Students' Potential at the True Robotics NH Spring Competition

Updated: Jan 10

Are you looking for an exhilarating and educational experience for your child? The True Robotics NH Spring Competition, set to take place on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Auburn Village School Gymnasium, offers just that – a day full of robotics, programming, and engineering challenges for students aged 9-16.

Why Robotics?

Robotics is more than just building and programming robots; it's a gateway to developing critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork skills. This competition provides a hands-on learning experience, allowing young minds to delve into the fascinating world of robotics in a fun and competitive environment.

The Competition: A Blend of Challenge and Fun

At the heart of the competition are three main events: a sensor-based obstacle course, a teleoperated racing event, and an exciting robot soccer match. These challenges are designed to test and enhance students' problem-solving and engineering skills in real-world scenarios.

Sensor-Based Obstacle Course

  • Objective: In this challenge, students must program their robots to autonomously navigate through a course filled with various obstacles. The robots should be able to detect and avoid barriers using their sensors.

  • Skills Enhanced: This event tests and develops students' abilities in robotics programming, particularly in sensor integration and autonomous navigation. It encourages them to understand and apply concepts like sensor data interpretation, algorithmic thinking, and adaptive problem-solving.

  • Real-World Relevance: The skills learned here are akin to those used in developing autonomous vehicles and robotic systems for exploration, search and rescue operations, and automated manufacturing processes.

Teleoperated Racing Event

  • Objective: Here, students control their robots remotely to compete in a racing event. The focus is on precision control and speed, as they maneuver their robots around a track with various turns and challenges.

  • Skills Enhanced: This event hones students’ skills in remote operation and control, requiring them to have a good understanding of the mechanics of their robots and the ability to make quick, strategic decisions under pressure.

  • Real-World Relevance: The competencies developed through this event are essential in areas like drone piloting, remote exploration (like Mars rovers), and in industries where remote operation of machinery is necessary for safety or efficiency.

Robot Soccer Match

  • Objective: Teams compete in a 3 vs 3 robot soccer match. This involves not only programming and controlling their robots but also designing custom attachments for handling the soccer ball.

  • Skills Enhanced: This activity combines engineering design with programming and teamwork. Students must creatively solve the problem of how to best equip their robots to handle and 'kick' the ball, while also working effectively as a team to strategize and outmaneuver their opponents.

  • Real-World Relevance: The multidisciplinary skills required for this challenge are reflective of those needed in fields like robotic design and development, systems engineering, and in collaborative project-based environments.

No Experience? No Problem!

Whether your child is new to robotics or has some experience, this competition is a perfect opportunity. Each team will receive a pre-built robot kit and additional materials for customization, especially for the soccer matches. Teams will creatively design, program, and test their robots for various engaging challenges.

Teamwork and Collaboration

Participants will work in teams of 1 to 6 students, fostering teamwork and collaboration skills. It's an excellent opportunity for your child to make new friends, learn from peers, and work together towards a common goal.

Join Us!

We invite teachers, educators, and parents to register their teams for this incredible event. It's not just a competition; it's a launchpad for your child's future in science and technology. Let's inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers together!
